The Summer Weather

  • 1
Summer is still with us, and may it last six more months. :-) Accordingly, there are many ways in English to describe how Summer "feels" -- especially when referring to the weather. Here are some more examples.

Here’s more ways to describe the nice weather of Summer

Very Warm
One of the first things we can say about Summer is that it is very warm.

In some places of the world, and during specific days especially in the hot months of July, August and September, sometimes the weather or temperature or sun’s heat can be scorching.

Humidity
Prague, like many places when it gets warm, experiences what it called humidity, and it becomes very humid.

Humidity refers to the amount of moisture in the air or the Earth’s atmosphere. When the levels of humidity are very high, it eventually will rain, which has the added benefits of cleaning up the air and helping to remove pollution in the sky.

Before it rains as the humidity builds up, many people “feel” that the air is thick, or “heavy.” People who have allergies, sometimes have a hard time breathing until after the rains clear out the skies and cool things down a bit.

In industrialized areas, the combination of pollution, warm weather and high temperatures often creates what is called smog. Smog tends to be worse during the Summer for these reasons.

After the Rains Come
After it rains, the overall temperature, except in the tropical regions of the Earth, tends to cool down a bit. It can easily rise back up to the level where it was before it rained, unless there’s a Summer breeze to help keep things cool and fresh.

                  Do You Know This?

Here is some totally useless trivia. These are facts which are interesting, but are considered essentially worthless. Enjoy!

1. Marilyn Monroe had six toes on her feet.

2. Statistically speaking, women will blink their eyes twice as many times as men will. 3. The Empire State Building in New York is made from 10 MILLION bricks.

4. Goldfish will turn white if they are left in the dark for too long.

5. More people are killed by donkeys each year, than in airplane crashes.
