As we also discussed, if you make a point to remove your glasses while making or stating an important issue, or when you are pondering the answer to some sort of question, visually this little trick helps make an additional impression on people. It is a subtle way of reinforcing the idea that you are serious or are focused.

Using Other Props
While the use of glasses in this way is admittedly a bit theatrical, it is a very real gimmick which is used by politicians and people who try to win debates or "score points" with an audience. It is for this reason that we discuss its use here, because it is both stick and shtick in the art of public speaking.

If you decide to use glasses, do not go overboard with them or their purpose will lose its effectiveness,

Using a good laser pointer is highly recommended. This is especially true whenever any graphics you must display have specific areas that need to be either highlighted or emphasized or spoken about in detail.

Always remember that when a chart has too many figures or bits of data on it, its information becomes "noise" in the eyes of the audience and they will tend to tune it out.

When an audience begins to tune your data and visuals out, they are on their way to tuning YOU out, which is never a good thing.

When you use a prop such as a laser pointer, you can "rescue" the slide or chart to bring people’s focus back to the figure(s) in question. You should give your audience a compelling reason why they should even care about the specific image you use, and then mention it.
