A Cold in Warm Weather

  • 105
With all of the temperature changes taking place lately, thanks to some very nice California-like weather here in the Czech Republic, people are at greater risknow to catch a cold, than they would if the weather were actually a bit more cooler, or consistent.

Naturally, as people are just finally starting to enjoy nature this year, they’re getting colds.

Colds
One of the most common causes of colds during warmer temperatures is what is called the cold sweat. This is when your body sweats, but then it starts to cool down suddenly, leaving you feeling cold.

In America, tourists who visit Miami, Florida during the hot Summer days often get brief “cold sweat flus” by wearing shirts and sweating and then going in and out of very cool air conditioned buildings.

Remember Your Body
Naturally, it is best to keep your body’s resistance as strong as possible. This can help be accomplished by eating a balanced diet, dressing properly for changes in temperature, drinking plenty of liquids, and avoiding those substances which remove vital minerals and vitamins and nutrients from your body.

Your Nose
When the weather is warm outside, if your nasal passages suddenly start to get congested or plugged up, this may not be due to a cold. This problem could in fact be caused by an allergy.

If you are uncertain, it is best to see your doctor just to be sure.

If it is an allergy you have, it is important to find the substances which cause negative reactions in you. While they may have cold-like symptoms, they are not viruses, which are different, but you can still get sick.

Regular exercise three times a week and proper sleep can also help you avoid getting colds.

In Honor of Dumb Laws Week :-)

New York: it is against the law to walk around with a ice cream cone in your pocket.

New York: if you break the law by jumping off of a building, presumably to kill yourself, the penalty for doing it is actually death!

This means that if you survive the fall, the state of New York technically has the right to kill you by demanding the death penalty if you are later found guilty of jumping off of one of their buildings.

New York: is it legal for a woman to go topless, but only if it is not business related.

Maine: all shoelaces be tied at all times when shoes are worn outside on the streets.

Maine: everyone must own a rake.

New York: in certain districts, if men walk around topless, they can be charged a fine.
