Every time a company does this, the police automatically investigate, catch the guilty parties, which then have to pay a penalty.
In addition, and rightfully so, the companies which advertise on these illegally-placed posters are also notified and are also sent a bill to pay the damages.
These measures are unfortunately necessary, because people "play" such games.
For it is Vojtek who has the legal right to hang these posters, not these other operators.
Vojtek Sedlacek is the founder and owner of ProVas Agentura (Pro Vas Agency) which is the largest employer of handicapped people in all the Czech Republic.
It is handicapped people who hang up most of the posters in Prague, so when other parties play their paste over games, they’re not only breaking the laws, but actually hurting the handicapped.
How much lower can one get?
"The greatest challenge in society today where it concerns the subject of handicapped people, is trying to get everyone to understand that handicapped people are just like you and me." explains Vojtek, in between sips of fine Viennese coffee that he makes for us, combined with a delicious Apfel Strudel that only the Germans make.
"It is a myth that businesses must lose money or productivity when you employee the handicapped. This is just not true." says Vojtek.
Sedlacek certainly knows what he is talking about. The fact that his workers are busy toiling across the city in an incredibly diverse mix of professions is hard evidence of this reality.
"Our business model is simple and normal just like every other company. We are profitable, and we employ the handicapped and help other companies employ disabled people. They have learned that they do not have to lower their standards or lose profits or lose productivity. This is a ‘win-win’ for all sides. We help the economy and companies provide jobs for these people."
The Astronomical Clock
Sedlacek is also the author of the award-winning booklet on Prague’s legendary, historical Astronomical Clock or Orly.
Sedlacek spent two years writing what is considered to be the definitive "short guide" about this marvelous mechanical wonder.
Available in several languages, it is truly a great written work.
Part II tomorrow.
