Earlier this year, on March 13, 2007, the 10th anniversary of the so-called "Phoenix Lights" took place. It was celebrated with much fanfare in the USA, especially in the state of Arizona, where the mysterious events had occurred.

On March 13, 1997, in the evening hours, a series of large, bright, glowing lights could be seen steadily hovering over Phoenix, Arizona.

Witnessed by millions of people, and videotaped by dozens of individuals from many locations, this series of "UFO" reports would receive worldwide coverage, and generate heated controversy.

"Star Wars" and Secrets
The first sightings began during the daylight hours, when a huge triangular-shaped craft "like a big triangular blimp" was seen.

Later at night, individual lights were observed to suddenly "wink" into place, hover in the sky for several minutes, and then just as promptly "wink out" as if they never existed.

The Czech Connection to UFOs
UFO sightings concerned the U.S. Air Force so much, that they launched an official investigation called Project Blue Book.

The U.S. Air Force hired Astronomer Dr. Joseph Allen Hynek, a Czech from Northwestern University, to be its official Scientific Advisor.

Hynek served in this capacity for more than 20 years, until Project Blue Book was closed down. Although the Air Force officially concluded that UFOs were "not a threat to national security," they specifically did NOT deny that "they" existed.

After Hynek left Bluebook, he would go on to create the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) in Chicago, Illinois and author two widely praised books on the subject, noted for their balance and objectivity.

Joke of the Day: Totally Useless Info

1. Nearly 30% of IBM’s employees are either from India, or of Indian heritage.

2. 90% of all Web sites are never visited by people other than the friends of those who create them.

3. The original concept behind the Internet was to have a distributed network that could withstand a nuclear war against the USSR. The idea was that by having a distributed network or “web” of computers, communications could continue as long as at least one main server, routers and some nodes still functioned.

While this was a great idea by the U.S. Defense Department, they forgot the only thing that mattered: Microsoft Windows.
