Next Wednesday, these two states will hold their pivotal primaries. If Clinton does not win both of them, and by a very wide and comfortable margin, her campaign to become the first American female President is effectively over.
Barrack Obama
What can one say about Barrack Obama that has not already been written? Undeniably charismatic, he continues to gain momentum, win over skeptics, and now leads the contest in the race for delegates.
While nowhere nearly as seasoned as veteran John McCain, Americans have chosen young figures before to lead them in whole new directions.
Remembering JFK
For Americans, probably the best example they remember today is John F. Kennedy, who was elected by a new, younger generation of voters and enough of those from the Old Guard to squeak out a slim majority and usher in a new era for politics.
Unfortunately, Kennedy was struck down in his prime, ironically as he was comfortably on his way towards running for re-election to what would have been a second term in office.
A Debate or the Alamo
In American history, the U.S. Army or Calvary as it was called back then, was defeated at a place called the Alamo, which is today located in the state of Texas. For Americans, to have their own Alamo is their cultural equivalent of Napoleon having his own Waterloo. In other words, they both symbolize defeat.
Clinton and Obama will debate one another next week. While Clinton cannot afford to lose Ohio, Texas might prove to be her Alamo.
