More of the Basic Sciences

In yesterday’s column we briefly reviewed some of the major areas of science. Here are a few more of them, starting off with a very unusual area of science which most people don’t know even exists.

Here is how more of the basic sciences are described in English - 2

Astrobiology or Exobiology
Exobiology is the study of extraterrestrial life forms and their surrounding environment and the conditions which affect them.

Although many think that Exobiology is a relatively new science, this is not true.

Many Exobiologists are also top notch biologists, geologists or cosmologists, which are serious and very deep areas of scientific study which compliment any theories one might have about possible life existing elsewhere in the universe.

While science has yet to find such life, although it predicts it will within some five years, the field of astrobiology and/or exobiology is very real. Exobiologists have played key roles in all landings of space probes such as on Mars and other planets.

Geology
Geology is the study of a planet’s history through examining its rocks, minerals and other substances either on the surface or below it, and the strata and layers and formations of its rocks and minerals.

Physics
Physics is an area of science which focuses on the study of matter, energy, force, and motion. Within the field of Physics, like nearly every other major science, there are of course specific areas of focus.

Quantum Physics
Quantum Physics is the study of the relationships between atomic elements or any item in order to predict or describe its behavior or its actual characteristics.

Oceanography
Oceanography is actually a branch of geology and biology. It is the study of of underwater environments. It can be a lake, or any body of water.

Here’s a photo of my dawg (we’re from Texas) Rover and my Cat, Mr. Ninja.

I think you can see why it is that we call our Ninja, Mr. Ninja.

Everyone knows, at least I hope ya does, that when the master is away, the dogs and the cats will play. Seems like they also like to practice a little martial arts occasionally as well.

Now, this fight isn’t fair. Our cat Ninja is both a black and a white belt in Kitty Fu.
