The ability to control nature’s building blocks (atoms) is one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs ever.
For it is at the atomic level that nature "does its business," and by controlling atoms, science can control to a significant degree, nature itself.
Saving lives
In the next five years, there WILL be two key milestones achieved by science: first on the biological front, then on the technical front.
On the biological side, scientists are close to solving the "mystery" of controlling stem cells.
Stem cells are produced by all living things. A stem cell is like a generic DNA blueprint. With proper manipulation, stem cells can be "coaxed" into becoming anything.
Within five years, people will be able to have their DNA stored, so that as they grow older, parts of themselves can literally be cloned. For example, let’s say that you drink too much Czech beer and later develop liver problems.
By manipulating stem cells, a new, healthy liver can be grown from your own stem cells and then transplanted into your body. There would be no rejection, it would be your own DNA.
Meet the Nanobots
In addition to being able to replace parts of your body with fresh, new organs or skin, people will also be able in inhale nanobots which will roam around inside your body and do everything from improve your memory to killing cancer cells.
The future of medicine is moving away from drugs. Instead, it is at the atomic level, one atom at a time.
. Jokes of the Day: The Bithday CakeOne day, an elderly man went to get a special birthday cake made for his beloved wife. She was celebrating her 85th birthday, and he wanted it to be very special. After walking into the bakery store where he was having his customized cake made, the decorator asked him what he wanted the cake to say. Thinking carefully, the man replied that he wanted the top part of this cake to say, "You’re not getting older," and the bottom part of the cake to say, "You’re just getting better." When he brought the cake home to his wife, she looked at it and hit him over the head. Instead of what he had asked for, written on the cake was, "You’re not getting older, your bottom is getting better." |
