Upon first checking ADS when getting in tonight, I saw the video and couldn't help but laugh, hard.

Young daughter (8) asked what was so funny. "Well, dear, it isn't really funny and I shouldn't have laughed but Bush went to Iraq and a journalist threw his shoes at him. He didn't hit him, and I shouldn't have laughed, because that was a violent action and violence doesn't solve problems, it makes them worse." She said maybe the journalist was mad because his family was part of the million Iraqis who have died, and the man didn't try and kill Bush, he just threw his shoes because he was angry. Then she asked me to replay the video for her and I did and she burst out laughing too, but I can't blame her.

I didn't even know the meaning of this action in the Iraqi culture, but I do relate with the degree of frustration that drove this man to do this. My TV set's picture tube busted after the last McCain/Obama political debate. I will not get another TV until after 1/21/09.
