Popular English Mistakes

By popular request, here’s another installment in our series on popular myths about English. Until fairly recently, it was always thought to be "improper" to start off or begin your sentences with conjunctions such as and, but and or.

Wendolene, Captain Cook, Stiller a spol....

...do you think idnes.cz have finally seen reason and sacked the "Colonel"? God, I hope so!!

He's still pumping out his nonsense in "Metroppolitni Expres", unfortunately. The day before yesterday, he solemnly told his readers: ""Whenever there is more than one of something, remember that it must be plural, and not singular."

Re: Wendolene, Captain Cook, Stiller a spol....

KAL IS THE GREATEST ENGLISH TEACHER!

On se i na ty noviny "Metropolitní Expres" vykašlal ,  a ony z toho důvodu pak v dubnu zkrachovaly.

Slyšel jsem že on ted' učí Angličtinu na Karlově Univerzitě.  Je to pravda?

Kal is the greatest, a tak bych se moc nedivil.

We all know he's mad, but may idnes.cz have realised too. No column today, no column yesterday....

Common mistakes in English

The biggest mistake is to think that Mr. Korff knows English. He is anything but a teacher. He cannot spell, articulate let alone write a good , objective article. When will you , dear readers and publishers, understand???

Oh , dear!!!

You should avoid starting sentences with And. You should not try to pass your ideas of easy lousy English to your readers. Your stupidity is endless. Just when we think we have seen it all ... you managed to suprise us again. Congratulations, you are bigger and bigger imbecile.

Has anyone ever read a great book by John Kennedy Toole , "Confederacy of Dunces" ? The main character , Ignatius, would have to say about Kal, that he really has lack of theology and geometry plus he is a mongoloid....

Your ideas of improvements of English are absolutely horrid. There is no way you can use these sentences, you cannot say words like greaterest, and no, you cannot spell. Butt Kal should get his just desert...Ha ha.

Oh dear, "Colonel"

Thus, if you start your sentence off with a conjunction, this ideally defeats its theoretical purpose.

---"ideally"???? What??!!!
