Practicing Travel English 3

When you’re in the USA, remember that you have a passport, which is a commodity most Americans will never possess. Don’t let anyone fool you, a passport IS VALID I.D. everywhere in the United States. If someone ever tells you that it is "not acceptable" because you do not have a valid state driver’s license nor a credit card, they are wrong and are breaking the law.

Tell me, Kal....

...had you been smoking something interesting when you wrote that crappy poem? And had your "editors" been smoking the same stuff when they "edited" your column? You're an embarrassment to your country. You're an absolute disgrace.

For crying out loud!

Enough with the passport info. Yes, we get it. Most of Americans do not have passport. You have not offered any useful information about travelling to the USA. How about asking for direction, renting a car, hotel  information etc. ?????

You could tell us more about restaurants. Yes, you do not have to pay for condiments, which results in people wasting them. They must have ten packets of ketchup, they use two , and the rest goes into the trash. Europeans do have to pay, but at least they do not waste them as much. Another thing, in most restaurants, you do not seat yourself, they have a hostess You do not have to pay for water ( unless you order mineral water). If you miss breakfast in a hotel, you can go to a restaurant chain such as Denny's, Perkins, Ihop. They serve breakfast all day long. Also remember, USA is not pedestrian friendly, do not walk in unknown areas, most cities do not have sidewalks outside of the downtown. It is okay to walk downtown, but that is it.

Re: For crying out loud!

If you rent a car, make sure  you have plenty of gasoline, the distances in the USA are great. They are indicated in miles, not km ( 1 mile is about 1.6 km).

So you see, you could offer all kind of advice, but you are incapable of anything else that, Americans do not have passports....
